內容摘要 :

Phrasal verbs

A: I can't believe what my evenings are shaping up to be! I have too much on my plate.

B: Like what?

A: I have class till 6,  a part-time job till late night and tons of homework and reports to hand in this week.

B: Why did you make all those commitments? Didn't you plan ahead?

A: No, I didn't think it would be this much.  I should have run it by you before.  You're always so wise and calm,  and could definitely have offered me some good advice.  What would I do without you? . . .

B: . . . what do you need this time?

A: Like I said, you're so wise and smart! . . . Could you cover my shift today? Please,  just for one night. . .

• I have too much on my plate= I have a lot of work to do or a lot of problems to deal with.
• Plan ahead= make plans about something you will or might do in the future
• Run sth by someone= tell this person so that they can give their opinion
• Do without sth or someone= manage without this thing or person
