主題：用英文學德語3 : 城堡篇 Neuschwanstein Castle
內容摘要 :
Schloss Neuschwanstein (Neuschwanstein Castle)
Like in many other European countries, there are a lot of castles in Germany. The Germans call them “Burg” (a fortified castle). Some are already destroyed, by war or by the weather. But many “Burg” are interesting spots for tourists nowadays. Think of the romantic Heidelberg Castle (close to Frankfurt) which nearly 10 million tourists visit every year. Or think of the very big Hohenzollern Castle in South-West Germany, this was owned by the last German emperor William II. The best preserved castle (never destroyed in a war), is Eltz Castle (“Burg Elz”) in the West of Germany. The noble family is offering tourists to visit the medieval rooms and the fortress. And of course we must speak of the “Wartburg” in the center of Germany, a most historical place for Germany. Martin Luther translated the Bible here, in the 19th century students fought for German national unity, and today, this is part of the UNESCO cultural world heritage.
Let us look at another famous castle in Bavaria: “Schloss Neuschwanstein” (Neuschwanstein Castle). In 1869, the King of Bavaria Ludwig II ordered to build a castle similar to the “Wartburg”, but more beautiful than the castles made for war and defense. So this castle became a symbol for the king´s ideas of beauty and imagination. Its white color and the many towers look very impressive. And in our time, this castle is a touristic hotspot. People can take a bus from Munich and enjoy a guided tour in the castle. Many young couples come here for taking wedding day pictures – with this great scenery in the background. And Walt Disney in the USA took this castle as a model for castles in Disneyland and in movies. And if you turn around you have a wonderful view over the Bavarian landscape close to the Alps, in summer and in winter.
